Here's where it gets fun
Well, here is where we get into the meat and potatoes of it, right? I am a conservative — no, not just a conservative, I am a Conservative and proud of it. I am further right than Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity combined. I am as far right as Ann Coulter, if not further, and am happy to be so. I have two things in my blood: Politics and Religion.
Actually, that's rather strange when you think about it because as far as I know, I have no politicians in my family (in fact few in my family actually pay any attention at all to politics and some can't even tell you what the parties stand — or sit — for) and I have no reverends, priests or pastors in my side of the family that I know of. I have no real reason besides being born interested in those two subjects to be so obsessed with them. However, I do have the obsession and if my bookshelves could talk, they would pipe up right about now and affirm this.
I love to talk politics and I love to read politics. I like to read both sides of things, too. Why? "Know thine enemy", that's why. If I do not read their books, I cannot understand how they think, what they think, or even IF they think (especially since there is no proof with some people). So, read to know, and know to win. If you can get inside your enemy's head and figure him/her out, you can defeat him/her.
A side bar: I hate that PC "him/her/them/it" crud. I think the generic of mankind should be the traditional "him" meaning exactly that, "mankind". It certainly isn't "womankind" and it's not "itkind", so what's wrong with a masculine personal pronoun when speaking
generically about the human race? To me, nothing. So I will probably do the "he" or "they" thing more often than not due to the fact that I abhore anything PC and I do not want to do the "him/her/them/it" routine. It gets so tiresome.
I look forward to posting in this area about all things political. Whether that be court rulings (which, believe it or not, does get political due to the fact that court rulings become law — check out Roe v. Wade), stupid statements from national political leaders or wannabe's, or if it's the latest stupidity coming from the liberal leftist wackos. You know the kind: they practice the "do as I say, not as I do" brand of mouthing off. Rosie O'Donnell with her "hate guns" thing, but allowing her body guards to carry them; the Hollywood elites who tout their "carbon footprint" being so small an ant wouldn't be interested in picking it up to eat it if it were a morsel of food, while the truth is that they own and frequently use a personal jet to fly hither, thither and yon and star in shows that have huge gasoline explosions creating more pollution in one five second flash that is filmed thirteen times to get the shot right than you or I create with our vehicles in two weeks' worth of errand running?
Those and more. We'll talk about it. Okay?

Well, Miss Lindy, there you go again! Who cares what you so-called conservatives think?
There are a lot of liberals out here and we have our candidates too. True, Amy didn't make it last time but Maureen might.
Informed people know the effort she has put into volunteering and sustainability. And, Sierra votes.
If Maureen had her way she would probably stop all growth in the county. The construction people can find work elsewhere. They can just follow the Cape crowd. And Maureen will probably wave the green flag for "go" and help these people exit who have congested our space in Brevard.
Keep Brevard green, vote Maureen!

Yep, there I go again. And, YOU should care about what we conservatives think. If we don't act and keep people like Maureen Rupe out of office, you will not be able to have your grandkids live in Brevard County because her ilk are trying to make Brevard a "No Growth" county. That means no new houses, no new development, no new roads, no new businesses: stagnation. Stagnation leads to recession and recession leads to people losing their jobs and houses. Is that what you want?
As to how much time she has been putting into volunteering, so what? A burglar puts a lot of time into what he does, too, does that make it a good thing?
And, Sierra voting just means that we, the people who wish to be able to live by our grandkids, or who wish to have out children employed within the county must also vote: but we must vote against Maureen Rupe.
As to the construction people: You are correct. They would have to find work elsewhere, employment would be down and that brings on a faster recession.
If you want to "Keep Brevard green," vote for someone other than Maureen because green is the color of pay: as in money. If you want to be paid, vote for J. Roger Shealy. He'll keep Brevard working do what is best for Brevard.

greenwaygirl get a life! You and your candidate are typical of airheads trying to foist your "quality of life" on the rest of us.
Never met a "visionary" yet who didn't operate on other's money (taxpayers) or seek ways to get it. Most of you groupies operate using grants (in case you can't wrap your mind around the word, it means it comes from the taxpayers. If you or your groupies operate under a 501 3C you're also tax exempt) In other words, bloodsuckers.
Instead of constant talk about growth problems try some feeling for those out of work. Thanks to your kind many families will be leaving Brevard and you and yours can complain to each other as you watch the birds on the land you saved from nasty builders, You know, like the one who built your house. Lady, you have too much time on your hands and an idle mind breeds trouble for others.
I'll bet you even "work" for one of the green groups who never got their hands dirty doing real work.

Arrowhead,
Be nice to greenway girl. She doesn't know any better. Her head is full of birds and mice and spiderwebs.
Remember, that Maureen Rupe can fool some of the people some of the time (apparently greenway girl is one of them), but not all of the people all of the time. That's what this forum is about: all of the people. I'm trying to educate the people as to the truth of who Maureen Rupe really is. I use her own words to tell people who Mauren is, what Maureen stands for, what Maureen has worked for, what Maureen believes in, what Maureen's goals really are. If I can do that, and have fun commenting back to a few greenway girls, so be it.
However, you are correct: many families will be leaving Brevard if Maureen Rupe gets elected. They will have to because "no growth" means no new jobs, no new houses, no new roads, no new schools, no new parks (there won't be any park areas left because it will all be under the "conservation lands" -- EELS or something similar -- moniker. All that will be available to Brevardians will be what is currently here and higher taxes for that. Sad to think that some people don't understand that, but I am putting together a new webpage (No Maureen Rupe 3) that will help explain that.
In the meantime, if greenway girl wants to post again, she is more than welcome; as are you, Arrowhead. I will try my best to educate the folks who visit here to the truth and if it is your desire, Arrowhead, to spread the truth around, go ahead and tell more people about my site. The more the merrier and the more people know the truth about Maureen Rupe (from her own words, or the words of her organizations), the better.
Invite one and all. I'd even welcome Maureen Rupe to comment here if she so desires. I warn her, though, she will be replied to.

Explain to all the struggling construction workers in this county why they should vote for this Rupe woman? For years she has written letters to the papers and talked about stopping any growth. If she's not smart enough to know there has to be growth to have jobs, to own homes and pay taxes, she's sure as heck not smart enough to be in office.
Scary stuff when a woman has so much time on her hands she can running up and down the roads from one meeting to another trying to become a politician.
Seems like a hypocrite environmentalist wasting gas because she's bored.

Hammerhead,
I understand your frustration. Maureen Rupe has writtten to the papers trying to stop growth: that is her desire. No new roads, no new houses, no new shopping malls, no new businesses to get a job in, no new anything except places for turtles and birds and bees to grow and fly and be "all natural" in. Why anyone wants to put the scrubjay and the golpher tortoise ahead of humans, I have no idea. Why anyone wants to vote for someone who thinks that your children aren't as important as a scrubjay, I have no idea. Why anyone would support someone who thinks that way, I have no idea. But people do. And that is their right.
That does not mean, however, that I have to do it also. And neither do you. And, yes, she has spent an awful lot of time using gasoline and polluting Brevard County with her emissions running to meetings hither, thither and yon, hasn't she? I thought she was an environmentalist, but considering how many meetings she must attend monthly, weekly and daily (not to mention how often she goes up to her good buddy, Truman Scarborough's office), how can she claim to be an environmentalist when her favorite thing to do seems to be polluting Brevard County with all that "meeting going"? Can't she just phone it in?

In case candidate Rupe hasn't heard, Sea Ray is in trouble and laying off hundreds. Nearly a thousand being sent home in July for a month to see how things shake out.Probably won't come back.
All the taxing programs she has supported are hurting us. Why in the world would anyone want to elect this woman? Has she ever had a real job? I see nothing on her website that shows any experience with much of anything except talk.
Rupe supports buying land for animals. What about us humans who are losing jobs and homes? This woman has no clue.
Reply to this
I am sorry about the Sea Ray jobs. I wish there were some other industry in Brevard that could pick them up, but for years Brevard County has had more people working to save the gopher tortoises and scrub jays than the jobs that will pay people and put food in their children's mouths. People like Maureen Rupe apparently don't think that's as important as swamp land that has lain fallow for over thirty years and been unusable for all that time. But Maureen Rupe supports the purchase of that land above appraised value so that we can have "green" around us. I'd rather have the kind of green that pays the bills and puts clothes on my children and food in their mouths than a swampy, mosquito-infested muck.
But since Maureen Rupe's resume shows no kind of real work experience -- something in which she pulls a pay check herself, instead of the ol' hubby doing so -- I guess it means nothing to her that she is spending out taxpayer dollars for the benefit of the mosquitoes.
Yep, that's right. According to her own resume, she has never pulled a paycheck herself. Apparently before she married Robert Roy Rupe, Jr. in Aug. of 1982 in Hillsborough County, FL, she was married to another American (see a trend here, folks?) who brought her "across the pond" and deposited her somewhere in the good ol' USA for her to try to turn it into her socialist mecca. She apparently lived off of his paycheck until their divorce since she has no job listing on her resume. So, technically, she has never been a taxpayer: not a real life, "I see it coming out of my paycheck and I don't like that they're taking that much!" taxpayer. So maybe that's why it is so easy for her to spend our hard earned dollars on mosquito property: she never had to help pay for it, it's always been hubby doing so. Maybe hubby should sit her down and talk birds and bees and mosquitoes and taxes with her, or maybe he, too, likes mosquitoes that much; whichever. Maureen Rupe's resume shows no taxpayer status of her own.
Sea Ray employees should look for nothing from Maureen Rupe because it's not they who count: it's the scrub jay that is important to her. Go to the http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SpaceCoastAudubon/messages site and do a search for Rupe to see how much she cares. After all, she is so much for development and strong managed growth that she says at the end of one of her posts there, "Don't let nature down."

Lady are you making up all this stuff about this candidate Maureen Rupe? If you are, you're in big trouble. If you're not and she gets elected, we're in worse trouble.
Reply to this
No, I am not making all this stuff up. I've quoted her own words, used her own postings and given links to every one of my assertions when it comes to the things she believes and practices.
I do not have to lie to make her look bad. The truth makes Maureen Rupe look bad enough that I don't even try to make it worse.
I agree: if Maureen Rupe gets elected, we are all in worse trouble than if anyone else gets elected.
Personally, I am voting for J. Roger Shealy and I hope you -- and everyone else -- will, too.

I'm not sure if I agree with EVERYTHING you have said, but I am very glad I found your site! (By the way- I found it from Shealy's site. He's posted all questionnaires he's received and his answers on his website.)
Just for the record- I wouldn't vote for Ilene Davis OR Maureen Rupe. Still not 100% sure about the others, but Shealy is definitely looking the best to me so far.
Oh, and was Maureen part of that "Save Brevard" proposal a year or two ago? I think there were only 2 cities in the entire county with enough service people in every area to allow them to build- and then to limit the building height.... Like a 25 or 30 foot height limit is going to make a big difference on whether or not you can see the river! I don't agree with large buildings all over the riverfront, but total stagnation in Brevard County would be cultural suicide to the current residents! Oh, maybe that was the Titusville thing headed by Laura Ward and Martha Jane Long..... Thank God that didn't go through!!
Anyway.... I will be back to learn more from you! : )

Titusvillemom,
Welcome! I'm glad you like J. Roger Shealy. He is the BEST person for the job! I'm flattered he left my link on his site. Brave man.
I am sorry to say, but yes, this is the same Maureen Rupe that is part of Save Brevard (www.savebrevard.com) and she is the same Maureen Rupe who advised the Mims/Scottsmoor incorporation effort on how to get that accomplished.
And, if you go here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SpaceCoastAudubon/message/3963, you will see how Maureen Rupe felt about the building height limits in Titusville. (Spread the word. She is all over the place trying to push her agenda.) Do a search of that site while you are there and read all the posts from Maureen Rupe. You'll see who she really is. Also, realize that since I found the site, they have started using a different system. I haven't found that one yet, but when/if I do, I'll glean from it as well.
Glad to have you and glad that you'll be back to learn more. Be sure to visit No Maureen Rupe 2 to learn about her educational qualifications. She has taken part of her statements down regarding her 10th grade equivalent education, but that doesn't mean that she ever did anything more than that. Don't you want a D1 Commissioner whose secretaries will have a higher education level than the Commissioner?!

You are still wasting your time, dredging up stuff on Maureen. She has worked diligently to get others involved in saving Brevard.
She knows there are times when personal gain such as business or job loss has to happen for the Greater Good.
If you understood the inner workings of the planet, evolution, sustainability and ecosystems in the universe you would understand Maureen. And, yes, sometimes it does take a Socialist viewpoint to make it happen. Being a Socialist isn't all bad.
Why not open your mind and accept the fact that Brevard needs eco visionaries, not space jockeys! That era is over. Let the Cape workers who have caused our over population and polluted our environment move on. We want change. Let Cape dogs find a new line of work. Vote Maureen.

I'm sorry, greenwaygirl, but I believe you are quite wrong in your beliefs, your attitudes and your twisted ideas of what is mportant.
In my opinion, Maureen has worked hard: Hard at getting a job that pays well over $53,000 per year (right now: who knows how much it will be worth while she's in office if she ever got elected). She spent an awful lot of time, effort, travel, gas money (polluting the planet), printed a lot of papers (killing trees), making her carbon footprint bigger (doing all the things she used to get her "qualified" to be D1 Commie), and sticking her nose in to other people's business. If that's the best she can do: pollute, kill trees and make a bigger carbon footprint, then I must ask if her environmentalism is all that real?
Businesses are needed in Brevard so that people can have the jobs they need to provide for themselves and their families. No businesses, no jobs; no jobs = unemployment for Brevard citizens. Unemployment = more taxes for those who stay employed. Higher taxes = fewer people in Brevard and soon, the socialist cycle comes to its ultimate end: Brevard is a ghost town and there is no more need for EELs purchases because there is no one here to see any of it, no one here to vote to do it, no one here to sell it, and no one here to buy it. The Socialist agenda leads to destruction of all that the traditional family holds near and dear: Faith, family, country, the right to bear arms, the right to own private property and the right to live free. Socialism = death. If that's what Maureen Rupe wants, then I suggest she go elsewhere to get it; I'll even put in twenty bucks toward her plane ticket to anywhere else on earth (Siberia, Uganda, England, a small, desserted island in the far away southwest Pacific Ocean): caveated with "she can't come back."
I will not open my mind and accept anything you suggest. I will not open my mind at all. I enjoy having a closed mind because I know what I believe, who I am, what the truth is, and what right and wrong are. If anyone has an open mind they are subject to the consequences: their brains fall out. I have seen the evidence that proves this in several political candidates in this election cycle alone.
And, we need the "space jockeys" and all that goes with them in order to Keep Brevard Bountiful (monetarilly). If we have no space jockeys and all the accompanying businesses, we go to lower paying jobs and we have inflation, stagnation or any of the other bad "-ations" and we all suffer from it sooner or later. Space jobs = high paying jobs = good for Brevard.
I would "Vote Maureen" only if I was dead and someone else held my hand to the lever.
Oh, and of course, there's always Maureen Rupe's defense: HAPPENINGS, Sept. 2006, page 13:
"These are my personal thoughts. I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but if I couldn't say what I thought, I couldn't live."

I have tried to respectfully disagree with people like you, but I am tired of it. YOU AND MAUREEN RUPE are the reason that my family and I might have to leave Brevard County after over 30 YEARS of living here! Get this thought tattooed somewhere where you will see it and it might finally sink in.
THE SPACE CENTER IS OUR BIGGEST INDUSTRY IN BREVARD COUNTY. IF IT GOES, SO DOES A LARGE PORTION OF OUR RESIDENTS. THEN WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR MONEY TO "SAVE BREVARD"?
I have a better idea.... YOU leave and let the people working their butts off while not knowing how they are going to care for their families soon stay and do their best!
Sorry Linda, but I can't handle this person anymore.....

I would rather keep Brevard ALIVE, thank you! And if you don't like Linda's site, why are you here? Post your own site!
